I have known Ari's parents for over 13 years and mom is my absolute best friend. Mom and I have both had some heartaches with trying to become parents and these babies have forever changed our lives. This go-round, it was time to celebrate my best friend becoming a mom to her rainbow baby. I found out she was pregnant with my goddaughter when she was 11 weeks gestational. Ariane is a product of prayer and her name is definitely fitting for her. I was honored when mom stated she wanted to me capture her pregnancy and newborn session. For those that do not know what a rainbow baby is, let me explain. The definition is simply a specification of a baby that is successfully carried and born after the lost of a previous baby/child. This baby, like all other babies, are blessings and miracles of their own right. Some families like to think of their newest addition as being hand-picked by their angel sibling. This in no way means that the rainbow baby is replacing the life that was lost. This new life carries their own personality, however, they will be loved just as much. As her mother's best friend/sister, Ariane means just as much to me as my own son did. I, along with many women, experience the heartache that comes with losing a baby regardless of what stage. So her rainbow joy is also my celebration.
Definitely Her Color
Before every newborn photo shoot I ask the parents what colors would they like to see. If I had them for maternity I will ask if they would like to pull colors from their maternity session, or even nursery this way everything flows. Mom loves sunflowers, but wanted shades of yellow. Though yellow looks absolutely amazing on melanin I'm sure that there had to be a deeper meaning to this very vibrant color.
Yellow is a symbol of light and purity, which totally rings true for little Miss Ari. Her spirit is so calm and relaxed though when she opened her eyes, she just about melting your heart and lights up the room with personality.
You'd think the cuteness overload would stop. Yeah, no! She was simply angelic and we were able to capture quite a bit once she was fast asleep. Here just a few more of her looks.
We always end a newborn photo session with newborn family photos. It is important to me that we document this with the entire immediate family. Moms don't always feel like it at the moment, but after years of having them, they are grateful that the family portraits were done. You do not want to look back and be disappointed that you were not included.
