Fun Fact: I capture more boys!
When my clients here this they are always so shocked. I was shocked as well. However, this just clicked to me. As a #boymom I treat my boy sessions much different than lots of photographers. My boys are extremely important to me. Don't get me wrong, my girls are amazing little bundles, but my boys hold a super soft spot in my heart. I love to make their sessions a little more lavish. Newborn boy photo shoots DO NOT have to be boring!!! Hear me when I say, your son's newborn sessions with me will not be boring or standard. I get excited when I have a little boy coming in. Time to break out my new goodies all the time.
So when Brittany told me she was having a boy, I got really excited, especially when she was excited to use jewel tones with one of them being royal purple!!! I actually captured Brittany and her husband during their maternity session. Mom was located in Arizona while dad was stationed in Georgia. It was just a perfect match. When Romero was born mom and dad were located in Atlanta, GA. They hired me to come out to ATL and capture their baby. Super honored, I packed up my things and headed to Atlanta for her newborn session portion of her Baby Collective. He was the perfect little gentleman.
I have used purple for 3 other boys and each time it looks absolutely amazing. Boys don't always have to be with blues or greys. It's a great color for boys and girls, but shouldn't be synonymous with BOY babies. So this purple blessed my soul.
Do you include Family Shots?
Perfect time to address this question again. YES!! YES!!! YES!!!!!!!! Before Brittany booked me I was 100% transparent with her about what the Baby Collective included and part of that was parent/family shots during their newborn photography session. Even with their session being in their homes, we found a clear wall and utilized the space well. Listen, when you are growing your family you need to document each and every step along the way. The parent shot is all part of that. When your little one is no longer so "little" they need to see you there. That representation is important. It is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS included in your newborn photo session or Baby Collective.
Be Creative!!
I love when my clients tell me to be creative. I love hearing this, especially with my boys because it gives me free reign to do things based on the maternity session or even the nursery this way it all goes hand-in-hand when decorating your homes. Romero's parents purchased wall art from their maternity session. The main colors were those of the sunset during Golden Hour. This color set worked perfect with those colors and those of his nursery. It's perfect for their walls in Little RoRo's room. This little moon, bed and bear suit made my client, her mother and grandma's hearts flutter immediately. The reveal was that much sweeter because they shared in the moment of creativity along with seeing how everything came together.
Coordination is Key
Get you a photographer that believes in coordination! I love introducing different patterns, fabrics, textures and props in the same color scheme to decorate your little one's newborn session. It is important to me for you to have a consistent gallery, capturing different angles of your sweet new baby.
I loved using these little sleepy caps with the pillow showing off his curls and cheeks. And, the addition of the bear is always an adorable little pop for my babies. Its so stinking cute in their little hands.
Having a baby boy soon?
We love our little boys over here. Again, I love my girls too, but my boys bring me a challenge that I am ready to take on!!
